Zain Sponsors Entrepreneurship and Water Management Hackathon in Collaboration with Jordan Green Building Council

Zain Jordan, through its innovation campus “ZINC”, proudly sponsored the “Entrepreneurship and Water Management Hackathon,” organized by Jordan Green Building Council (GBC). The hackathon aimed to empower university students across Jordan to develop innovative solutions addressing the pressing challenges of water scarcity in the Kingdom.

This initiative aligns with Zain’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability and water resource management, as well as its ongoing support for Jordan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through ZINC. The sponsorship also reflects Zain’s platinum partnership with GBC, which began last year.

The hackathon brought together over 36 students forming 12 teams from six Jordanian universities: Al al-Bayt University, Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU), Applied Science University, German Jordanian University, Middle East University, and University of Petra. Prior to the competition, participants engaged in an intensive training program covering technical insights into Jordan’s water crisis, water governance and policies, water diplomacy, climate change adaptation, and sustainable practices.

As part of its sponsorship, ZINC delivered a specialized entrepreneurship training program that focused on entrepreneurial fundamentals, market problem analysis, and business model development. Additionally, ZINC hosted several training sessions at its main branch located at King Hussein Business Park and took part in the final judging panel evaluating the teams’ submitted projects.

At the conclusion of the hackathon, ZINC awarded the third-place winning team with a complimentary six-month membership at all ZINC branches across the Kingdom. The membership grants access to shared workspaces, meeting rooms, high-speed internet, 2D and 3D printing services, and participation in ongoing events and activities within Jordan’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

ZINC’s participation in this national initiative further strengthens its role in empowering youth and driving innovative, sustainable solutions in key sectors such as water, environment, and climate resilience. It also reinforces ZINC’s efforts to expand its strategic partnerships with civil society organizations and public and private sector institutions, with the aim of fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation throughout the Kingdom.
