As part of its unwavering commitment to sustainability and the development of the ecotourism sector, Ayla announced the renewal of its strategic partnership with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) for another year, celebrating over a decade of fruitful collaboration in biodiversity conservation.
The renewed agreement reflects the shared vision of Ayla and RSCN in protecting and enhancing natural resources, raising environmental awareness among local communities and visitors, and advancing ecotourism by developing new trails and experiences.
Under the agreement, both parties will continue to achieve tangible results in environmental protection, providing technical consultation to increase habitats for migratory birds, adopting best practices and policies at Ayla’s facilities for bird monitoring, species tracking, and organizing awareness activities for visitors.
Through this collaboration, Ayla supports innovative environmental initiatives and attracts nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers, strengthening Aqaba’s position as an ecotourism destination, with the Ayla Feather Trail and the Aqaba Bird Observatory serving as key hubs for birdwatching activities during migration seasons.
Eng. Sahl Dudin, CEO of Ayla Oasis Development Company, emphasized that this cooperation reflects Ayla’s environmental and social responsibility. He noted that Ayla has become a key partner in preserving Aqaba’s natural heritage, establishing a prominent bird monitoring trail as a result of its collaboration with the RSCN. This initiative offers a sustainable tourism experience that combines luxury with environmental consciousness, while also serving as a scientific and research platform for researchers and bird enthusiasts.
Eng. Dudin added: “We remain committed to our long-standing journey in sustainability and natural resource conservation. Over a decade of collaboration with the Aqaba Bird Observatory has led to the recording of over 100 species of rare birds in Jordan. We look forward to expanding our cooperation with RSCN to further strengthen our position as a premier ecotourism destination.”
For his part, Mr. Fadi Al Nasser, Director General of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, highlighted that the thirteen-year partnership between the RSCN and Ayla stands as a distinguished model of fruitful collaboration with the private sector to achieve shared goals in environmental protection and sustainable development.
Al Nasser added that the RSCN’s studies on the impact of Ayla’s natural environments on attracting migratory birds clearly demonstrate Ayla’s significant positive contribution to sustainable development for both nature and communities. He also noted that these joint efforts led to the creation of the “Ayla Feather Trail” for birdwatching, a valuable addition supporting the Aqaba Bird Observatory and contributing to the promotion of ecotourism and the opening of new prospects for social and economic development in Aqaba.
It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of their cooperation in 2014, Ayla Oasis Development Company and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature have successfully recorded over 100 species of migratory birds — some of them rare in Jordan — and have significantly enhanced the capabilities of the Aqaba Bird Observatory, which stands today as a model of collaboration between national institutions in developing a unique ecotourism product.
